The Merrill Companies Property Management
The Challenge
With several departments responsible for different types of data it made it virtually impossible for the company to operate as a cohesive unit. Since this was a service company, communicating information to clients was extremely important, but it was not happening efficiently. Clients were being lost at a high rate.
The JMC Solution
After examining the departments and the network infrastructure we determined that new working procedures were in order. A custom-designed database was created and information was shared among several departmental lines to improve communication.
Each department enters their particular data and is able to produce individual reports. In addition, each employee can now view the information for all departments from there desktop, thus increasing efficiency and overall communications.
The Challenge
The sales department of this cruise line required a database to assist inĀ generating financial reports.
The JMC Solution
A new application was created to import raw data from the company's mainframe computer and perform the necessary calculations to generate financial reports. Among a dozen reports available is one that shows financial revenue based on category of cruise lines, specific cruises and offers year-end and year-to-date comparisons with annual percentage increases over a four-year period.

The Challenge
Production time was being lost because assembly line machines responsible for the production of VHS tapes were automatically shutting down numerous times a day for short periods of time. The department head needed to know what was causing these errors so that adjustments could be made to prevent it from happening in the future.
The JMC Solution
We designed a database that communicated with the assembly line computers and logged each error. An interface was created that automatically sent the error code directly into the database which contained a description of each error code. Every time an error code occurred, the database automatically logged the type of error, date and time. A report was generated with a detailed description of what had occurred, and corrections were then made.
Initially this database was used to generate production reports, maintenance reports, failure analysis and conditional equipment status reports. It also provides a detailed graphical representation of production by types of errors for specific time periods. Armed with this data, a clear course of action was plotted to ensure that product output remained at optimal levels.
